Speaker Q&A: Erina MacSweeney

Next up in speaker Q&A series is Erina MacSweeney. She practices as a Nutritional Therapist in Killarney, Co Kerry in Ireland, and works as an accounts executive for the Revive Active supplement company. Here’s a preview of some of the key points she’ll be covering at this year’s camexpo.

Erina has a BSc in Food Science from University College Cork and a diploma in Naturopathic Nutrition from the College of Naturopathic Medicine. She specialises in cardiovascular health.

What do you love most about your work?

Being in a position to offer people advice (often very simple) that can have a significant effect on their long term health, and seeing the much improved repeat screenings in a little as two months.

What’s the single biggest challenge in your work?

Imparting to people urgency to take action, that the risk factors for heart disease should never be ignored (but unfortunately too often they are).

What’s your specific approach to diet & nutrition?

Keep it simple, start slowly, explain “why” and never compromise on adding sugar to food.

What’s one emerging trend or research that anyone working in your field should know?

The real significance of cholesterol, that fat is no longer the enemy and the blood tests that are really significant for heart disease that are not being routinely done.

What are the key points you’ll be covering in your seminar at this year’s camexpo?

How a simple non-invasive technology can give a powerful picture of a person’s cardiovascular health, measuring the before and after results of nutritional therapy and some interesting case studies.

In addition to your session, why would you recommend practitioners/nutritional therapists visit camexpo?

It is so educational and motivating, and it’s great to speak to passionate people…and of course the special offers.

Erina MacSweeney will be discussing Cardio Pulse Wave Screening and targeted nutrition, a series of case studies at 12:45pm on Sunday 27 September in camexpo’s new Nutrition Theatre.
