Lyme Disease: The Great Imitator
Lyme disease can be difficult to identify. Professor Puri, speaking on behalf of the Academy of Nutritional Medicine, has experience in the diagnosis and treatment of Lyme disease and is involved in research in this area. He will first examine the vectors of the disease and its symptomatology. He will then describe how to test for both Lyme disease and its multiple co-infections, such as infections with Bartonella and Babesia. This will be followed by an overview of the nutritional sequelae of this complex but highly topical condition.

Professor B. K. Puri is a medical researcher and consultant at Hammersmith Hospital, Imperial College London and Breakspear Medical and medical adviser to ReMEmber and the Colchester MESH and research adviser to BRAME. He is actively involved in researching complex disorders and conditions, including Lyme disease, cancer, depression, ME, ADHD and Huntington’s chorea using state-of-the-art electrophysiological, brain scanning and biochemical and molecular biological techniques.
Along with carrying out medical studies and consulting, he supervises research into neuroimaging, mitochondrial function and nutritional medicine.

Doctor Randall Merchant is a Professor of Anatomy and Neurobiology and holds joint appointments in Neurosurgery and in Physical medicine & Rehabilitation at Virginia Commonwealth University.
